OIL AND DEBRIS CONTAINMENT BOOMS

Tidal Garden Barrier Solves Unsightly Mess

OPEC has recently installed a heavy duty floating debris boom on the River Thames which is used to stop debris gaining access to a river garden on the banks of the Thames.

THE PROBLEM

A London based property development Company has been building luxury accommodation for a long term project in London's West End. The apartments overlook the Thames and a purpose built garden at the waters edge. The garden attracts all kinds of debris which make their way down the Thames.

OPEC was asked to provide a solution to the problem by installing a debris boom which will stop the unsightly objects from resting in the garden

HOW IT WORKS

The debris barrier sits at the front of the garden during low tide and using specially designed and fitted sliding rails rises up and down smoothly with the tide to ensure all floating debris is pushed down stream of the garden during the two tidal flows every day.

The new heavy duty barrier has drastically reduced the amount of debris making its way into the area which means local residents can enjoy the experience as it was designed for.

The new system also helps reduce maintenance costs for the property management company.
