Metal Polishing specialists “ACE Polishing” transform the Azerbaijani capital.

The craftsmanship of a Rochdale firm “ACE Polishing” has helped transform the skyline of the Azerbaijani capital Baku.A team of expert steel polishers from the town flew to the oil rich former Soviet republic  to help put the finishing touches to the £2m Baku Flame Fountain.

The 30 meter stainless steel sculpture, recently unveiled  was completed by Kingsway based ACE Polishing Services Ltd. Workers spent 17 days in Azerbaijan polishing the curved steel.

Contract manager Gareth Hulme said:

"It looks absolutely stunning. The monument itself is in the middle of a massive park. I went over there to manage the project with two others from here."

The fountain, which is shaped like a flame and lit up at night, was unveiled by President Ilham Aliyev at a special ceremony. It has been built in an old industrial district which is being regenerated.

Gareth added:

"We got the steel delivered to Rochdale and did a lot of pre-polishing over here before sending it off. We went on site while it was being built to complete the polishing process. It is one of the most prestigious contract we have ever undertaken"
