It is with deepest regret that Airedale Springs announces the death of Steve Banham on the 26th August 2009 at Airedale Hospital after a short illness.

Steve was born on the 17/07/1957.

Steve joined Airedale Springs on the 19th January 1988 as a general labourer. In June 1988 he became one of the Companies store men/drivers.

He had previously worked in the warehouse at Damart in Bingley.
It was at Damart where Steve met a 16 year old office worker, Janette whom he married in 1976.

He was a dog owner and was devoted to their absolute happiness and wellbeing. He would be up at 5am to walk along the canal to ensure they were exercised properly before work and his last dog was a rescue greyhound. Janette asked for donations to be made to the Tia Greyhound Rescue charity at Hebden Bridge, Halifax. She felt that this would be what Steven would have wanted.

Steve was referred to as the gentle giant and he made a lasting impression on all he met. As well as being a dog lover he also enjoyed walking, reading going the pictures and playing on his play station.

He liked a few beers and "people watching", Spending many hours doing just that when Janette and her mother would disappear shopping, he would never complain at how long they had been "missing".

Steve never felt sorry for himself and liked a practical joke on his family, friends and work colleagues.

Steve was part of the Airedale family having worked for the Company for 21 years and he will be missed.

On behalf of Janette and the Company we would like to thank all those customers who have sent their condolences particularly those who met and worked with Steve directly when he replenished stock on the line.
